Ruby gets a “base coat”

When the subject matter has a furry coat, the base coat is just the beginning.  I completed the small wooden disk painting and anticipate the 12×12 will be done by Friday.  Completing a pet portrait on this sized canvas generally takes about 5 hours and the smaller ones about 2 hours.  For the background design of a crosshatching harlequin pattern I just used a sharpie marker to fill in alternating boxes.  That is the easy perk to painting on wood, mixed media is not a challenge.  The big challenge is working these projects around a full time day job.
